harp harfinistin arpista Federica Somigli arpista

Federica Somigli, a harpist of great experience and imagination formed in a multi-faceted musical journey, who loves to explore the various styles of music in different styles and formations, even at the level of cultural research.

She started to familiarize herself with music early with the age of five playing two instruments, harp and piano, and then choose soon to make music an integral and focussed part of her life.

After that Federica had the opportunity to be supervised in her development and studies by excellent and renown teachers such as Giselle Herbert and Susanna Mildonian in Academies as the Musikhochschule Wuerzburg and the Chigi of Siena, who, with their experience, ensured as well an outstanding technical base and an exceptional entrance into her professional career.

Right from the start she was used to master any kind of solo repertoire and chamber and orchestral music.

As a solo player, she likes to engage in any kind of repertoire after having had the opportunity to demonstrate her mastery with classical harp pieces at a variety of locations and places at events, such as a concert with music from Mozart at the Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome, Sacree and Profane Dances of Debussy at the master Maestro Bellugi, or in ensembles Les Chansons de Billities at the Sagra Musicale Umbra (Umbria, Italy) and at major Italian theatres.

She made as well recordings; one of which is a piece of De Fallia directed by Master of Social Media for “Amadeus”, an Italian journal, in which were published as well various reviews on her work.

At the same time she began to specialize in the field of contemporary music with the post graduate qualification of “Esecutrice della Comunità Europea“, with concerts delivered at the Academy Chigiana in Siena (Italy) and recording of a song by Paolo Pessina, conducted by Maestro Borgonovo.

Previously, while studying in Germany, she was working for the Bayerischer Rundfunk in Germany at the recording of the world première of a piece of Berthold Hummel in Wuerzburg.

In the following she expands its horizons into different genres and experimental works, leading to her participation at the recording of the CD "Nita" by Paolo Angeli.

Experimenting with different sounds and tonal expressions makes chamber music as well part of her repertoire, this includes as well major pieces for the harp, before and after the 19th century French composers, integrating as well rather unusual sets and combinations of instruments.

Playing with orchestras she is well positioned to adapt to any kind of operatic and symphonic experience, most recently focussing on Italian composers and especially on Puccini.

During her career she was able to play and make her own experiences with various orchestras in Wuerzburg, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra of Savona, Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago and others, there having had the opportunity to receive guidance and appraisal from the great experience and talent of the first harp of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Luisa Prandina.

Federica is seeing the music above all as a mean of intercommunication and the harp as an iconic instrument that manages to create a very own and special atmosphere at many different types of events and celebrations, exhibitions, openings to family events.
